The idea
Book Hostel will provide comfortable and harmonious space for readings and presentations of books, works of young artists; a stage for short modern forms of theater and workshops for children and adults. The name of the place is inspired by the concept of "accommodating" books and making them available for reading only on the spot. Book Hostel started with two preliminary initiatives during Artmospheric Festival (May 21st -24th 2010, Vitosha national park) and Sofia Poetics Festival (June-July 2010), Borisova Gradina park. The ultimate goal of the project is to establish Book Hostel’s permanent location on the territory of Borisova Gradina park.
The books
Books will be procured from publishers, community centers and people in the form of donations and sponsorship. Part of the project idea is to support the initiative ‘Book-crossing’ (letting books ‘on the loose’ and tracking their travels and the people whose lives they have touched). Book Hostel already has an initial stock of books supplied by the Foundation for the Bulgarian literature.
Book Hostel at Beglika Festival
‘Book Hostel’ will be provided with a special location where visitors will be able to read and share books and ideas, and to participate in workshops planned in advance.
